- We are a friendly group of people of all ages (16+) and all walks of life.
- We meet approximately every other Sunday to do single-day conservation tasks. See our current programme.
- We work at National Trust properties including Beningbrough Hall, Brimham Rocks, East Riddlesden Hall, Hardcastle Crags, Malham Tarn, Nostell Priory, Nunnington Hall, Rievaulx Terrace, and Upper Wharfedale. More information about work sites.
- We have an autumn weekend away working at Cragside in Northumberland, and a spring weekend away working in Borrowdale in the Lake District.
- We also plan a number of social events. These include things such as walks, meals, theatre trips, bowling, a scalextric competition, pudding evenings, and day trips. More information about social events.
- Tasks usually start at 10am and finish around 4pm, with lunch and breaks.
- The sort of work we do includes repairing footpaths, fences, driveways, steps and dry-stone walls, clearing overgrown areas, thinning out managed woodland, planting, pruning, and ditching. We also seem to have a lot of bonfires! We also on occasion help out with events such as the Spring Fair. More information about what we do.
- Each task has a designated contact who liaises with the propertys warden regarding the number of volunteers attending, tool requirements etc.
- No previous experience is required, and you dont need to be a member of the National Trust.
- You can work at your own pace. You can do as little or as much as you like.
- Membership of the group costs just £2.50 per year. This covers the cost of the four-monthly newsletter, publicity expenses and to replace any worn out tools.
