Social Events (page under revision)

The West Yorkshire Volunteer Group is not just about work. We also plan several social events (see below for coming events) throughout the year. Each four-monthly programme usually features at least one eating activity, be it the gluttony of the Pudding Evening, the summertime refinement of an Afternoon Tea, a mighty barbecue, or the merry feast that is the Christmas Meal. Picnic before visiting Calke Abbey

In addition to these epicurean events, we like to have work-free days out together - usually making use of our Volunteer Cards at National Trust properties further afield than our normal domain. In recent years we’ve visited Calke Abbey, Little Moreton Hall, Lyme Park and Formby, on the west coast, where we had much fun playing beach cricket and flying kites. On the beach at Formby

Being close to the wonderful scenery of the Yorkshire Dales, we also arrange group walks, and once hired a canal boat for a relaxing day on the Leeds-Liverpool canal. Past events have also included the Sailing Days, the occasional Barn Dance, and Scalextric Evenings. Currently, tenpin bowling is very popular with some of the group, and we’ve also started indoor flat green bowling as well. However, there are always other events on offer as can be seen below.
