- We are a friendly group of people of all ages (16+) and all walks of life.
- We meet approximately every other Sunday to do single-day conservation tasks on Yorkshire National Trust properties. See event programme.
- Tasks usually last 10am-4pm, with lunch and coffee breaks.
- We work at Beningbrough Hall, Brimham Rocks, East Riddlesden Hall, Hardcastle Crags, Malham Tarn, Nostell Priory, Nunnington Hall, Rievaulx Terrace, and Upper Wharfedale. See map.
- We have an autumn weekend away working at Cragside in Northumberland, and a spring weekend away working in Borrowdale in the Lake District.
- The sort of work we do includes repairing footpaths, fences, driveways, steps and dry-stone walls, clearing overgrown areas, thinning out managed woodland, planting, pruning, and ditching. We also seem to have a lot of bonfires! We also on occasion help out with events such as the Spring Fair. Read more.
- Each task has a designated contact who liaises with the propertys warden regarding the number of volunteers attending, tool requirements etc.
- Membership of the group costs just £2.50 per year to cover newsletter and publicity expenses, and to replace worn out tools.
- No previous experience is required, and you dont need to be a member of the National Trust.
- We have social events as well as tasks. These include, amongst others, walks, meals, theatre trips, bowling, a scalextric competition, pudding evenings, and day trips. Read more.
- If youre interested, why not come along to one of our events to see if you like the group and what we do. Youre very welcome to try us out before you decide whether or not to join.
