A popular beauty spot, the crags rise above a
steeply sided valley. The riverside walks beside Hebden Water take
you through varied deciduous woodland and past a 19th-century cotton mill,
a reminder of Yorkshire's industrial past. The site is rich in flora
and fauna, and is home to the rare northern hairy wood ant, whose large
nests are quite spectacular.
